Rush Creek

RUSH CREEK
Rush Creek | 36″ x  58″ | Acrylic on Canvas

High in the Eastern slope of the Sierra Mountains is a beautiful stream flowing out of Silver Lake known as Rush Creek. It is apart of an area known as the June Lake Loop located just north of Mammoth, California.

Teeming with brown trout Rush Creek is a favorite hot spot for fly fisherman also looking for awesome views of towering mountains that rise high above stream and lake into the Ansel Adams Wilderness. It is one of my favorites as it winds its way along the shore lined Aspen groves. I love this spot because it offers something of everything; Aspens, rivers, and mountains. The angled morning light creates great shadows and contrast against the back-lit Aspens. This river’s meandering pace allows for incredible reflections upon the surface of the water.

Inspired by my recent visit during this years Annual Fall Mountain Tour, Rush Creek, a large format, 36″ x 58″ painting, captures all that is offered here in one of California’s premiere mountain areas. It is definitely one of my favorite spots in the Sierras.
